鋸山日本遺産候補地域活用推進協議会指定の研修を終了し、有償ガイドとして認定を受けた正規ガイドを派遣いたします。

We have ready-made guided tours on the Internet platforms.
We regularly operate local tours through platforms such as aini and Asobyu, and will be ready to post ones with English speaking guides via other platforms very soon. They vary from 2-hour Nihon-ji temple tour to a whole day hiking around the old stone cutting sites on the north side, providing you a wide variety of choices. Just find the one you like and sign up!

What is Nokogiriyama?
鋸山とは？
信仰と産業が共存するネイチャーミュージアム「鋸山」
古代より安房の国と上総の国の国境をなし、現在も富津市と鋸南町の境に位置する千葉県の名峰「鋸山」。東西にのびる稜線がまさしくのこぎりの刃のように見えることから、古くより「のこぎりやま」として親しまれてきました。標高は329mと決して高くありませんが、切りたった垂直の壁面が作り出す異形で知られています。
鋸山の北側は、江戸時代から昭和まで続いた房州石の石切産業で栄えた金谷地区。山頂付近の切り立った垂直壁面は、この「石切場」跡です。よりよい石を求めて掘られた採掘後の洞窟をあちこちに臨むことができる光景は、まるで古代遺跡。その産業の歴史を垣間見ることができる登山道は、低山登山やとトレッキング、トレイルランニングが楽しめるコースとしても人気です。
稜線を境に鋸南町となる鋸山南側は、奈良時代創建の日本寺境内です。長い歴史の栄枯盛衰を経て、江戸時代に現在の日本寺の基礎が築かれました。自然にうがかれた岩壁の隙間に座する千五百体の羅漢さまや、坐像の磨崖仏として日本一の大きさを誇る薬師瑠璃光如来など、見どころはつきません。日本寺は2025年に創建1300年を迎えます。この節目に、1939年の大火で失われ、長らく復興中であった法堂および三重塔がついに完成、公開が予定されています。
地域を支えた産業と、信仰の対象となってきた仏教世界が背中合わせの山、鋸山。都心からわずか1時間で体験できる、ネイチャーミュージアムです。
Nokogiriyama : a place to embrace spiritual world and the past of once-prospered industry
Stretching from east to west in the middle of Boso Peninsula, Nokogiriyama is a 329-meter high mountain in the southern hilly part of Chiba Prefecture. The unusual shape of jagged ridge line gave its name Nokogiriyama, or a saw-tooth mountain. Sharply cut vertical cliffs in the north are the remains of stone cutting industry flourished in 1900s. Deep manmade caves in search of high quality stone are almost like ancient monuments. Its trails, once used as a haul road of the cut-out stone pieces, are also popular trekking routes among active hikers.
The south side, on the other hand, is a precinct of 1300-year-old Nihon-ji temple. Of its long history, the foundation of what we see today was established in the late 1700s. Things to see includes mystical 1,500 arhat stone statues placed along the trail, and the magnificent Daibutsu, or the Great Buddha, directly carved on the rocky hill and the largest of its kind in Japan. Nihon-ji celebrates its 1300th anniversary of its foundation in 2024. Their newly constructed main hall and the three-story pagoda, once destroyed by a big fire in 1939, are planned to be open to public.
The industry that once shored up the economy of the area and the Buddhist world revered by locals back-to-back, this is the nature museum that you can experience in just one-hour-drive from Tokyo Metropolitan area.

ウィーガイド鋸山について
一般社団法人鋸山ガイドセンター：通称「ウィーガイド鋸山」は2024年5月に発足したガイド派遣組織です。鋸山「日本遺産」活用推進協議会の認定を受けた鋸山のプロガイドが所属し、このガイドの派遣および鋸山の各種ガイドツアーの実施を行っています。
また、行政の枠を超えた「鋸山エリア」の価値を高めることをめざし、その役を担う人材の育成も行います。
主な活動は以下の通り
１）国内および海外観光客対象ツアーへのガイド派遣
２）現地発着ツアーの実施
３）地元事業者との連携
４）所属およびガイド候補生の研修
WeGuide NOKOGIRIYAMA, officially named Nokogiriyama Guide Center, was established in May 2024, as a Nokogiriyama guide resource organization. Our guides are professionally trained and certified by Nokogiriyama Japan Heritage Candidate Site Utilization Committee.
We also aim to enhance the value of Nokogiriyama neighborhood through its services, and to develop human resources by providing training programs for active guides as well as guide trainees.
